Driving Tests & Information

You must obtain a full driving licence by passing the practical driving test for the type of vehicle you want to drive. Different tests are available for users of different vehicles, from car drivers, to motorcyclists and HGV drivers.

The are three seperate parts to the test: the theory test, hazard perception test and practical test.

It is necessary to pass all three parts, theory, hazard perception and practical, before a full driving licence is granted.

VERY IMPORTANT TEST BOOKING WARNING.

Some sites will make a charge for booking your test .

There is absolutely no need to pay a test booking fee.

Make sure you use the official DSA booking site.

Pass Plus

Pass Plus Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident within the first two years of passing their test, due to a lack of driving experience. The Pass Plus course aims to build on your newly acquired driving skills and knowledge.

Once you have passed your practical driving test, you will be eligible to take further driver training in the form of Pass Plus.

What is Pass Plus?

Pass Plus is a training course specifically aimed at new drivers, it's been designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry. Pass Plus will help build upon your existing skills and knowledge, it will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards and can help you to become more confident on the roads

Pass Plus is Made up of Six Practical Modules:

  1. Driving in Town
  2. Driving in All Weathers
  3. Driving on Country Roads
  4. Driving at Night
  5. Driving on Dual Carriageways
  6. Driving on Motorways
Anyone who holds a full UK licence is eligible to take part in the scheme. You will not have to take a test at the end of the course. You will be continually assessed by your instructor. You must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard.

How Much Does Pass Plus Cost?

Fees for the Pass Plus course will vary depending on where you live and the instructor or driving school you choose. You should bear in mind that the course will take a minimum of six hours, if more sessions are needed for you to successfully complete the course, this may add to the cost.

When you have successfully completed the course, you are advised to check available discounts offered by the insurance companies taking part in the scheme. The amount you save will depend on the company you choose, you may even save more than you paid for the course.

"Dave's Teaching Methods were Excellent & Clearly Explained..."

"I didn't expect to be actually driving myself so quickly but with Dave's Help I was driving, turning corners, and changing gears on my very first driving lesson."

Ryan Owen

"Dave was So Patient, Understanding and Flexible..."

"I was a bit wary to begin with, as my old instructor was female. But as soon as I met Dave I knew we'd get on, he is "Fab", Really Patient, and has a great Sense of Humour, it wasn't like having driving lessons, it was like we were old friends having a chat and a laugh, I Really Enjoyed the Whole Experience."

Becki Hancock

"It's Great, Now I don't have to Rely on Other People..."

"Dave's Teaching Methods were Excellent, Everything seemed So Simple. I wasn't really looking forward to learning to drive because I get so nervous. Dave made my lessons fun and I enjoyed them so much, I couldn't wait for the next."

Rebecca Radford
