Does it really matter if your Driving Instructor is Fully Qualified or Just a Trainee ?

You need to check, if your Driving Instructor is on the official register of Driving Instructors

When a Driving Instructor accepts money for driving lessons, they must display a licence in the windscreen of the driving school vehicle.

A Trainee Driving Instructor will have a Pink Badge, whilst a Fully Qualified Instructor will have a Green Badge.

Driving Instructors have to go through a very strick qualification process to allow them to give driving lessons. This  involves taking a three part exam, if they qualify they are awarded with the green badge. They will not qualify unless they can demonstrate that they have a sound understanding of instructual techniques.

A driving Instructor who has a Pink Badge, will still be in the process of qualifying for the final exam. The Official pass rate for Trainees who qualify is Only about 25%, which means approximately 75% of these trainees do not go on to qualify.

Some of the countries largest driving schools such as BSM, LDC Learner Driver Centre, New driver, Red and Learners U.K. use Trainees and will generally charge the same rate for their services.

It's important to note that these trainee's have only passed their theory and practical driving test's and will be preparing for the all important test of instructual ability at your expense.

Before you commit and book your lessons ASK THE QUESTION will my driving Instructor be fully qualified.

For Your Protection !

Before a person can be accepted on to the official register of driving Instructors they must complete a criminal records check to establish if they will be safe to work with the general public and in particular under eighteen's

How Much Should Driving Lessons Cost ?

When making your choice of driving instructor, the price of a driving lesson is Only one of the factors that you should consider.
It's not the same as just shopping around for the best deal when buying a new pair of jeans, where several retailers will all have the same product & you just want the cheapest.

Despite driving around in similar tution vehicles, driving instructors can NOT be compared on like for like basis, because the instruction they give can vary enormously. Some driving instructors never take any additional training to keep up with new developements once qualified. Can you imagine a Doctor or Nurse never taking further training.

Other driving instructors take part in CPD which is "continued professional developement", this ensure's that they are at the up to date with the many changes taking place in the industry.

People often look for a driving Instructor who is "Good & Cheap" unfortunately the two rarely go together as many have found to their cost, but only after wasting hundreds of pounds.

Value for Money.

There are driving Instructors who are reliable, have first class teaching skills, years of experience, high pass rates and many satisfied customers. These type of Instructors stay busy for a very good reason, not because they are the cheapest in town but because their customers learn in fewer lessons and benefit from top teaching skills.

On the hand some driving Instructors still teach old methods and have poor customer service skills.

The Choice you make today could potentially have a huge impact on your bank account, and time. Remember "The Bitterness of Poor Quality Training lasts far longer than the Euphoria of Cheap Prices"

"Dave's Teaching Methods were Excellent & Clearly Explained..."

"I didn't expect to be actually driving myself so quickly but with Dave's Help I was driving, turning corners, and changing gears on my very first driving lesson."

Ryan Owen

"Dave was So Patient, Understanding and Flexible..."

"I was a bit wary to begin with, as my old instructor was female. But as soon as I met Dave I knew we'd get on, he is "Fab", Really Patient, and has a great Sense of Humour, it wasn't like having driving lessons, it was like we were old friends having a chat and a laugh, I Really Enjoyed the Whole Experience."

Becki Hancock

"It's Great, Now I don't have to Rely on Other People..."

"Dave's Teaching Methods were Excellent, Everything seemed So Simple. I wasn't really looking forward to learning to drive because I get so nervous. Dave made my lessons fun and I enjoyed them so much, I couldn't wait for the next."

Rebecca Radford
